Rotella 5w40 good for 110 degree heat?

Im currently running Rotella 15w40 in my 7.3 and planning to switch to Rotella 5w40 when it comes winter time to help with cold starts since we see some single digit temps and if I am in the deer woods I cant plug it in (no power).

The truck does everything from hauling hay and daily driving to off-roading and some of that is done in temperatures around and sometimes over 110 degrees in the summer. Do yall think that the Rotella 5w40 will be fine at those high outside air temps and towing heavy?

I figure it would be since it is a 40 at temperature but I would still like to hear it from someone else.

Thanks

Yeah, the 40 means it behaves like a 40 weight oil at high temps, so you should be fine. Also, since it is a synthetic oil, it resists heat breakdown and shear better than a conventional 15W40 oil.

As you noted it is a 40wt oil at operating temp so nothing to worry about IMHO.

Another "you'll be fine" using synthetic 5-40 Rotella, use it year round here. I extend my oil changes to 8000 miles but doing so a lab test of your oil would be a smart thing.
