Synthetic Oil

How many miles can i go between changes?
I am using Valvoline 5w-40 with ford filter.
Is this a good oil for 0 to 95 degrees?
I usually go 5000 miles with none synthetic and was wondering if i should get more out of it than that to off set the price?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Synthetic Oil

A UOA is really the only for sure way to know. I would imagine that 10k wouldn't be out of the ordinary for a deleted 6.7. Yes a 5w-40 should take care of you for most temps you will run into in the US.

Re: Synthetic Oil

I agree with rufus... Im very curious how this new engine treats the oil... Hopefully it will be like the duramax and is very easy on the oil... so you can very easily extend your oil changes out to 10K...

10,000 mile changes with UOA AND Scheaffers 9000 5w-40 Syn in the 03 f350
6,500 on 1st UOA on the 2000 f250 with Scheaffers 7000 15w-40 Syn-Blend
just changed oil and filter went to the ELF7405 which increases oil capacity to 16qts

too bad the 6.0's aren't like the duramax's oil wise. I know a guy that runs his out to 15k with amsoil and regular UOA's
