Feul oil

A buddy just bought a house to remodel. This house has a fuel oil heater in it which is getting torn out. There is still 200 gallons of fuel in the tank and he offered it to me. Can i run this in my truck? What do I need to do to it, other then filter it?

Damn my dyslexia.

Re: Feul oil

I think you should add some oil to it. I wouldn't know for sure though, we don't use heating fuel down here, but I think it is basically kerosene.

Re: Feul oil

I would filter it first if it has been setting for awhile but it's the same as off road diesel , I burn home heat in my skidsteer all the time it's cheaper than off road fuel ,but most oil suppliers won't sell you home heat to burn in you truck or tractor because they make more on the off road stuff. Just a warning though if you get your fuel tank dipped you'll be SOL because the stuff isn't taxed for federal fuels. With the high price of diesel now DOT is really checking for non taxed fuel being burnt on road.last I heard it was $1000.00 fine for the first offense.

Re: Feul oil

I doubt if it is even colored who cares.I would run it not a problem. It is probably kero and you'll drop in fuel mileage.Dump in some additive you'll be fine.

Sorry. Didn't mean to poop in your toilet tank.

Seems to me, WVO discussions better stop too.

Re: Feul oil

The only way there is kero in it is if it was for a mobile home or the tank was out side , if it was an inside tank it was straight home heat , the reason they cut it with kero is so it won't gell in the cold northern winters and then you have no heat.Burn it but don't tell anyone
