edge tuners have a habit of tearing up transmissions, and they are "canned tunes". or one size fits all. unlike tunes fro the better known shops where the tune is written for the engine/truck.
as an example: edges tuner is good for all 7.3 trucks from 94.5 to 2003
where as a dp, wildman, php chip is good for a 94.5 to 97 7.3 with auto trans. then there is a seperate tune for the same with manual trans. then there is another tune for 99 to 2003 with auto, and another with manual.
so edge says you are good to go with one, while the others say there are 4 different for the same trucks.

If you do not know any different, the Edge tuning (any generic tuner for that matter) seems like it is good. Once you have experienced custom tuning, you realize just how bad the generic tuning was. Normally this is especially true for auto trans trucks. With custom tuning, you can dial the truck in to your liking. It is not a one-size-fits-all sort of deal.
are 7.3 tuners obsolete? I was doing research and only one i saw for the 7.3 was an Edge revolver . I can get one for $300 canadian plus shipping. and it is 95-97 specific and auto trans specific. I am located in Canada and cross border shipping always gets expensive. I had a superchip 3 position programmer on my 2003 E350 that worked so well in tow safe , i misplaces the handheld unit. now i'm looking for soemthign similar for my 97 F350 CC but it looks like not much available anymore?

We ran an edge Evolution tuner on our stock truck for quite a while. when I took it off I reset it to factory etc then I sold it to one of my neighbors. When he tried to tune his truck it did something with the computer and he ended up having to take the truck to the stealership to get them to re-flash his computer (IDK how much that cost). But after that it worked fine and I think for a stock truck they did the job.. But After having a PHP hydra, Just buy a PHP hydra from Matt At gearhead and be done with it..
