Re: Has anyone had a 10.25 rear end rebuilt

I'm rebuilding mine at the moment. It's a 10.5 but shouldnt really matter price wise since they are about the same. Anyways I'm replacing all bearings and seals, and installing a trac-lok. I'm at about $850 in parts already and if I had to do the gears as well you can add probably another $3-400. That's just parts alone mind you since I'm doing it myself.

Your $650 quote was most likely replacing carrier and pinion bearings only. The $2000 quote is most likely new carrier, all bearings, and a ring and pinion set.

91turbogsx, thanks for the reply. I'll probably just rebuild the entire rear end...still cheaper than a new truck!

I rebuilt mine, with an trutrac it was like $800 in parts I can do a gear swap and setup in 4-6hrs so I could see $1200-1400 installed

Like what brad said you can find a used one, but they can be on there last leg when you get it and not know it.

Mine ran about $1500. Nice part was 4 wheel parts had to install a new r&p on their dollar since they f'ed up the old one.
