Exclamation Which is fried IDM or ECM?

On my 97 7.3L I have a chip from elite diesel and it may or may not have fried either my ECM or IDM (or, god forbid, both), it had a flame out and will turn over but the glow plug light will not come on, so which went out? I have found a lot of IDMs online but I cannot really find any ECMs so I don't know which is dead and finally if it is the ECM, where do I find one that I can just plug straight into the truck? I need help FAST I have to have this truck by next Saturday, thanks to those who post.

Check the connection where the chip plugs into the PCM.

By "glow plug light" do you mean the "wait to start" light? If so check the #22 fuse in the underhood fusebox.

Re: Which is fried IDM or ECM?

yeah sorry, I do mean the wait to start light, and I have checked both the #22 fuse and the chip connection, I have tried checking almost everything that I can, which is why I am pretty sure it is one of those computers, I called elite and told them everything but they suggested I go to a certain website and that place only sold IDMs, it just doesn't make much sense to me for the IDM to have anything to do with the wait to start light, the only thing is something I heard about some glow plug relays and I do not know where those are or how to check them.

Were your keys in the ignition when you installed the chip?

Did you make sure to clean the PCM?

Have you actually replaced the #22 fuse or just visually inspect it?

Have you taken the chip out and tried to start it?
