noob d60 questions

alright guys, so ive been considering a d60...although I think i'll regret it people tell me its a much needed upgrade...

I see a Dana 60 Front w/ 4:10s...how do i select gear ratios for the front? What should I be looking for when inspecting the parts? What should I make sure it comes with? Any advice would be perfect...

ps: I did search :-(

Re: noob d60 questions

1st you have to find out what gear ration you already have. Go here Axle Code Information - PowerStrokeNation

Then you will want all these items to make the swap simple

A 85.5-97 Dana 60 from a ford
F350 front leaf springs
Drivers side u-bolt plate
track bar and bracket
Front driveshaft and t-case yolk to go with(85.5-95 BW1356/ 96,97 4407)

As for checking things,

Look for large amounts of rust
ACCIDENT damage
Tight u-joints
ball joints/ kingpin slop
track bar bushings

All those things can be used as a barganing chip, but not always. Around here (the north east) dana 60 can go for as little as 100 or as much as 1200

Looking for Blue 40-20-40 seat for OBS. PM me if any known

Door jam sticker. All the way at the bottom it will say axle. Right under it, it will give a 2 diget code
