fuel pump problem

Three weeks ago the water in fuel light came on in my 97 f-350, so I drained the fuel bowl. On monday I was driving it to work and the fuel filter light came on and it started running bad. So I pulled over drained the fuel bowl and changed the filter. Started it up and it quite a 1/4 mile down the road the fuel bowl was dry. It was 10 degrees out that morning so I figured maybe It sucked up some water and it froze in the line. I walked to work and got a ride back at lunch it was 40 degrees out. Cranked on it and still no fuel. got the truck home and blew air thru the line going to the tank it was clear swiched to the back tank and sill no fuel. Can fuel pumps all of the sudden go up like that or should I be trying somthing else? I changed the fuel pump last summer.
