Slight miss/rough idle

97 f350 banks inter cooler/turbo/exhaust/tymar --NEW cps

so my truck when it starts up cold it runs great, heck it runs pretty damn good all the time, but after its been running for a few minutes say 5 or more it starts to get a slight miss/rough idle that shakes the truck etc slightly and doesn't sound right.

New UVCH glow plugs etc.

it is small but noticeable, and cant be right. Im trying to eliminate things in the injection system etc.

What could be causing this? could a bad ICP sensor(oil thingy in HPOP) be causing this?

Im at a loss, as it gets worse when it heats up then stays the same...weird stuff....its like the oil or fuel or something heats up and thins out and causes this or?

Thanks in advance

Re: Slight miss/rough idle

I have the same issue, but I'm guessing it's my old injectors.

Re: Slight miss/rough idle

im experiencing a very similiar issue. usually after engine is warmed up and been cruising down the interstate, and then get off and come to stop sign. the truck runs rough. (this has been going on for awhile now) today after work. about 70 degrees out; and got about 3-5 miles down the road; and it felt like the truck had a slight miss.

96 f250.
mrbp turbo back exhaust and beans diesel fuel system. 60 psi of fuel psi at idle. e4od trans. all pretty much stock.

any thoughts?

IDM?
HPOP?
IPR?
injectors?

thanks.

No, haven’t had the time or money Maybe after x-mas...

I've also been saving for a new transmission which I'm betting will go out on me right when I really don't need it to... :)

Re: Slight miss/rough idle

Rough idle can be a symptom of lots of stuff so will list some simple low cost solutions/suggestions.

Clean oil/air filter and fuel filter.
Clean return fuel regulator screen found in the stock fuel filter housing driver's side 1/3 way down. Use diesel soaked Q-tips and flashlite and small mirror.
Install high pressure oil crossover line between heads.
Check for defective warn out stock dual mass flywheel.
Burnt Valve and Under valve electric harness at plugs to injectors.

Thats a start.....also check for codes.

Re: Slight miss/rough idle

JCart,

Thanks for the info, I've rebuilt my fuel bowl not long ago so it's all clean.

I'm just betting tired injectors and injector orings are my issue.
