Collision Insurance: 96 F350 OBS

Does anybody keep "collision" insurance on their older trucks? My insurance company said that they would go by a local Ford dealer's "retail" value of local sales for a similar truck. I paid about $1300 over the NADA "retail" value, so I was wondering how some of you insure your trucks?

Re: Collision Insurance: 96 F350 OBS

I do, but i have all my vehicles appraised, for more than book value

The way I look at it is, do you really have the $5,ooo+ to replace the vehicle if you slide off the road because YOU were at fault, i dont, so i carry collision

If it is a $1000 beater, then I wouldnt worry about it

Looking for Blue 40-20-40 seat for OBS. PM me if any known

I do not about other insurance companies but at State Farm you can insure for a "stated value" where the value of the truck is stated in the policy. This value if it stated in policy carries over to the value it will take to total your truck if you are hit and not at fault. My agent is also a very personal friend so he is the one who engineered this for me

i dont know if it would apply to one of our trucks but if you have one that is especially nice it would probably be a good idea to look into late model collector car insurance, we have it on our 1990 thunderbird. its comprehensivce coverage and its pretty cheap. but it has a mileage limit but some plans dont but there more $$ it may be worth looking into

Collision insurance is cheaper than out of pocket replacing the vehicle in my opinion.
