08 console power

Just installed an 08 console and SD seats (super comfort upgrade). The console has 2 accessory plugs. Can I just splice into the factory accessory plug wires and run them to the console or should I run a separate power from the fusebox and ground it to the firewall? Forgive me - I am electrically challenged. How did those of you that have an 08 console run power to it? Anyone know where/part # of the matching connector to the 08 oem console connector?

Re: 08 console power

You can get the matching connector at any parts store in the electrical isle. I just tapped into the power and ground for the lumbar support motor. Plenty of power available there.

Re: 08 console power

I had considered that coz that connector is just laying under the seat. Would be real handy. Do you know off hand if that is powered with key off? I like to be able to leave electrical gadgets charging in the truck even when it is off which is why I considered the factory power plug harness.

Re: 08 console power

BTW - does anybody know a part # for the oem matching connector to plug into the console harness?

OK Krause. Here's the proof. I know. I know. I like posts better with pics also. These are not real good quality coz I was too lazy to go get the real digi camera but.....they're better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Picked up front and back leather Lariat seats for $300 coz the drivers seat had a permanent stain from a tire that was sitting on it for no telling how long. Tried several chemicals to remove the stains but no luck so I tried colorbond on the drivers seat. Came out so good I did the rest of the seats, dash pad, arm rests and door padding.
Before:

After Colorbond Med. Prairie Tan:

08 SD console. I have about 1/16" clearance between the armrests and the console. Haven't actually used the armrests since installing the console. Still trying to decide what color I want it. Thinking matching tan on top and sides and matching blue on front and back or vice versa.

Also, while I had the seats out I installed Fatmax Rattletrap soundproofing and did the weatherstrip mod with 3/8" OD surgical tubing. Weatherstrip mod made a huge difference in blocking road and wind noise. Injector clatter still loud though. Didn't do the firewall or hood.......yet.
