Re: my truck loves diesel...too much!

Keep your foot out of it. I accelerated a lot slower off of stops on my last tank and got significantly more out of it then previous tanks. Also when cruising try to stay under or at 2000 rpm on the highway. Once you get passed 2k fuel mileage goes off the deep end. Your mileage should also improve this spring because not only will you be idling less (no more cold starts) but also the summer fuel gets better mileage.

Re: my truck loves diesel...too much!

I dont ever start mine in the cold and let it warm up,

i get in it crank it wait till it gets oil pressure then i go, i shift usually between-1500-2000 rpm never get over 2000rpm-55mph and no matter what i get right around 200 per tank even if i add a but load of power service to it no change,

If i drive it hard and shift between 2500-3000 and do 65+mph it still get around 180-200 per tank

Re: my truck loves diesel...too much!

You seem to be below average but that might be because of driving style. 200 seems to be average. That's what I usually get. I babied it like never before and went 235 miles and still had 1/4 tank when I filled up once. I'm thinking this summer will be a great time for someone to get a diesel relatively cheap! I think if someone doesn't need a diesel truck, they'll try to dump it off on someone else in a hurry!

Re: my truck loves diesel...too much!

i know going slower helps but keeping it under 2k rpm on highway for me would be going like 50 and id be run over my other crazy drivers.... i could take it a little more easier on the go pedal but even when i drove home to ny i stayed at 65mph about 2500 rpm and i still only got 12.6 mpg granted it needs new manifold gaskets but i cant imagine that it would affect it that much...i still get 16-18 psi of boost at WOT and the spec is min of 15 (alldata) well i can only hope that a chip and summer fuel will help this summer when i go home i guess!
