no start issues

Well this is weird. My truck ran perfectly one day a week ago and then I went to start it and nothing. It has been cold up here, down to 5* at night but never had a problem. The truck blows no smoke out of the tail pipe. All fuses are good and I swaped out my modded IDM for a stock 110V unit I have. Still nothing. I finally got my snap on scanner back and just did a buzz test. There were some slight pitch changes during the test, but all of them fired. Here is what the scanner showed after the buzz test.

P1219 %H (cid) low
P1273 cyl #3- high to low side open
P1274 cyl #4 high to low side open
P1276 cyl #6 high to low side open
P1278 cyl #8 high to low side open
P1298 IDM fault
P1293 high side open bank #1 right
P1294 high side open bank #2 left

There were no issues with the truck before it stopped working. No issues ever. I am going to install my modded IDM and see what it tests out at to see if the codes are the same. Thanks guys.

Matty

Re: no start issues

Matty, you have either bad IDM or bad UVH harness.

Re: no start issues

I just tested a core IDM I got from a guy a few months ago. I modded and ran it when I sent you mine. The day my truck stopped working, I inspected that IDM. It is one of the first generaation IDM100's. I unslodered my mod and looked around for issues. There seemed to be a little brown on some components on the other side of the mod. I installed a new resistor for my mod and sealed it back up. Still nothing. That was last week. I just tried to run the buzz test with that modded IDM and it did not buzz anything. So I guess I got a core from a guy that has failed, not related to the mod itself. I bought an IDM from a member here last week and that is the IDM that I ran the test on with the results shown in the first post. This IDM buzzes, but there are different pitches. I need another IDM to test more.

Re: no start issues

My friend is coming over right now and I am going to try his IDM that I modded. I bet that is the issue. I am buying another IDM so I hope to be good if that is the issue.

Re: no start issues

WEll I just installed my friends IDM and it did not fire. The truck was plugged in for 2 hours and still nothing. I ran the buzz test with his IDM and it only came back with the IDM Fault code. No other codes came up.

If you have the scan tool make sure you are building HP oil.

TOM YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!

I just went to scan for ICP and there was none. I unplugged the ICP and then plugged it back in. It fired right up. Dude... Thanks a million. I guess I need to look into that connection and the ICP sensor as well.

Re: no start issues

Cool-- just an electrical snafu... I'm not certain that don't have something similiar. My truck will start perfectly 50 times, then on the 51st suddenly not start until after a key cycle or 2. Hot or cold, doesn't matter and no cels. I suspect its something like an ICP plug or sensor that acts up. It did it before and after the hpop/ipr changes. If I had an AE in those instances I could probably confirm it.

The only stuff in the HP oil, GP/inj, or IDM area that hasn't been changed, rebuilt or modded is the main harness and ICP sensor. I just haven't been jonesin to spend $350 on this stuff. Lots of electrical stuff on these rigs that can go wrong...
