Found a truck for sale, need help figuring out a problem

looking to buy another diesel and i found a 1995 f-250 power stroke. i am trying to go and see it soon. here is the info i have on it:

XLT,good body,automatic,175,000 miles,It has a bad injector and we can not diagnose which one.We installed new glow plus, injector orings, good compression test, and new control module. That is as far as we can go.There is no water in the oil,no oil in the water,no signs of a bad head gasket,I think maybe a dirty or bad injector?

so what potential problems could this be? what should i look for when i go check it out? i have to find out if its 4x4, assuming it is and there is some rust, would $1800 be a good deal? thanks guys

1997 F-350 7.3 POWER STROKE. XLT, 4X4, BLACK, REG CAB, STRAIGHT PIPED, DIAMOND PLATE TOOL BOX AND BED RAILS
SOLD

Well the first thing I would do is find someone with a high end scanner and ask them to go with you and do an injector buzz test and if the truck runs you could also do a cylinder contribution test. Other than that it could have a bad, loose, or disconnected plug to an injector on the UVCH. When they installed the injector o-rings they may have knicked the copper washer loose that sits on the bottom of the injector and seals the injector to the injector cup. Ask them what the compression test numbers were as well. What new control module are they referring to? Do they mean IDM or PCM?

97 F-350 XLT CC DRW 4X4 PSD, 285/75-16 Custom bumpers, Gauges-boost/egt/trans, Swamps IDM, 3.5"dp- 4" exh., 3" Body lift, ES bushings/mounts, Built trans, billet conv, B&M pan, Hayden cooler, Adrenaline, stage 2's, IC, H2E, E-fuel
ARP's, 910's, Smith Bros. to come

1800 would still be a great deal even if you gotta put new injectors. one thing they didn't mention is tranny work though. Thats something else to look into.

Re: Found a truck for sale, need help figuring out a problem

well i just came back. it was some early 20s lookin dude who is a john deere mechanic and knows his sh!t about power strokes. he was explaining everything and had parts off the engine still. im in ct and the truck had vt plates which i though was kinda weird. then he said the guy that had it before him was running dirty bio diesel and that caused the problems. the truck was 2wd and had a good amount of rust. there was a trailer brake controller but claimed the tranny was good and shifted fine. the whole thing was real sketchy, the guy had lots of beat looking stuff he was selling. after talking to him, im thinking he just buys stuff with problems and tries to fix with limited money to make a quick buck, but this truck was too costly for him.

I would step on outa there. a john deere mechanic and knows his sh!t about power strokes but cant run down an injector issue..Either hes a dumba$$ or he knows exactly whats wrong with it, hence why hes getting rid of it. I would stay away.
