OBD use with a chip...

Do I need to remove my six pos. chip if I am going to use a scan tool on my OBD II port? I want to check for trouble codes because the truck hasent been running right. But if I dont have to tear it apart first it would be nice. Thanks!

Re: OBD use with a chip...

ok thanks. Someone told me it would fry the IDM if it was scanned with a chip in it. But that makes things easier!

That makes it so much easier. I thought I was going to have to pull the chip, scan the truck, then put it back in to test drive. Because I cant compare how it acts without a chip to how it does with one. Completely different. lol

yeah like I said if it has a "no codes" on the chip then you need to pull it.
