zf5 to zf6 convershion can it be done???

Iv got a 96 f.250 4x4 7.3 with a zf5 that pops out of 4th gear every once and awhile and am scard is going to go out b4 to long. So iv been looking around trying to find a new tranny and found a sweet deal on a zf6 hooked up in a 2000 f.250 4x4 7.3l. Just woundering what could be done to fix my zf5 and how hard ift would be to convert my obs zf5 over to a zf6 speed? what all would you have to do???

It can be done but you will have to use the ZF6 Transfer case and you will need a new drive line and make some new cross brakets

Re: zf5 to zf6 convershion can it be done???

I am in the middle of this very project, except I am converting from an auto. It has been pretty simple so far, I used all SD flywheel, clutch, engine plate. I took my drivelines in to get done today, so I sould have it wrapped up this weekend.
