I have a 1996 250 cc sb 4x4
auto that i put a d-60 in. between 60 and 70 mph the transfer case has a grinding and vibration. I changed all u joints and carrier bearing, tried different levels of shims on the carrier bearing and no help. I dont have the front drive shaft in but it seems that the transfer case is stuck in 4wd and will not go into 2wd. the shifter is in the 2wd position but when driving or just rolling foreward slowly the yoke on the front of the transfercase turns. anyone have any ideas or anything else I should check? also do i need a different yoke to use the double cardian drive shaft on the front? i remember reading in the past that people have had to change it.
