R and R Front Cover

My front cover is cracked where it feeds the oil cooler on my 96 F-350. I will be replacing it myself, but I've not done this particular job before. Besides the gaskets, seals, and O-rings for the front cover, oil pan, and oil cooler, is there anything else that I'm going to need. Any kit(s) in particular that I should buy? I need this truck back on the road ASAP, so I would like to try and get everything that I will need in one shot. Also, since I've not been into one of these yet, anything I should look out for or need to know before removing that one innocent-looking bolt? Normally, it doesn't bother me, but at this time, I'm not in the mood for any surprises. I think I'll go looking for a engine manual after I log off here.

You are going to have to pull the engine to do it right. The engine really needs to be upside down to do the oil pan. And if you pull it you might as well do the high pressure oil rail plugs on the ends of each head. I would also do quite a bit more while the engine is out and on a stand but that would be the minimum.

Mileage on the engine? And how long you keepin the truck? As the pans coming off Id clean up and redo the oil dipstick bung for sure. As an aside when you get engine out Id bend the pinch weld (at cab and floor pan seam) the entire length make a few vertical cuts and bend it back towards tranny, only take you a few minutes. Much nicer to do up pipes when the time comes... Id also do those too, when out.

Don't have time or the shop to pull the engine. I'm deploying overseas with my NG unit in a little over a month. Was planning on pulling the radiator and going from there. I have to move and I have a lot of heavy stuff to move. If I'm not going to be able to get this done in a couple of days in my driveway, then I'll move on to plan B. Truck has over 230K on her and wasn't cared for well by the previous two owners. I'm keeping the truck. My plan is to strip her down to the frame and do a complete overhaul/rebuild when I get back. I hate spending a bunch of money and time fixing a truck that's going to sit unused for a year, but, life sucks sometimes.
