Pinion bearings. What bore size?!

Hey, so recently I got a new ring and pinion gear setup for a 1997 F250 HD 7.3l, front and rear, with a ratio of 3.55 in the rear, and 3.54 in the front, instead of the original 4.10 and 4.09 setup. The front is a dana 50 ifs, while the rear is a sterling 10.25. I then bought some bearings for the pinion gears. Neither bearing fits either pinion gear. Now obviously, it would be tight, but they are actually a bit far away from working. So that brings up the question. What is the bore diameter for the front and rear pinion bearings? Or, if not that... What is the pinion shaft diameter, either at the splines, or the closest part to the pinion head? Thanks!

What I'm sorta trying to figure out is if they sent me the right parts, or if O'Reilly's gave me the right bearings

Re: Pinion bearings. What bore size?!

They're not just tight, they are a press fit. Without a hydraulic press you're not going to get them on.

Hope you know all of the other potential gotcha's of a ring and pinion swap.

Re: Pinion bearings. What bore size?!

Right, the inner bearing is an interference fit. It won't just slip on, also there has to be the correct size shim underneath that bearing. The outer one should slip right on though.

Are sure you're up for this dude? A rear end is one of the more difficult things to rebuild. Do you have a press, a dial indicator, a micrometer or calipers, a beam type inch pound torque wrench and marking paint? Do you have all the specs? You'll need a manual to get those. If you don't, you need them first, all of them.

Next time just buy a kit. It will have all the bearings and shim packs and everything else you need to rebuild. Still need the specs though.

Ps...Im pretty frickin awesome!
