oil pan oring

im going to replace the oring today that goes into the oil pan where the dip stick is. My question is do I have to drain the oil or is it at a level below the hole where it wont leak out?

Re: oil pan oring

I have the same issue, my understanding is I will have to drain the oil, and drop the pan... possibly unbolt more things to get full access of the oring, since the oring Ive been told is on the inside of the pan... ive yet to become motivated enough to move farther on this replacement other than theory however, so I cant be much help as fair as applied application.

Re: oil pan oring

Don't have to drain oil, mine was distorted and a new oring would not seal it. I had to use lots of rtv.
