Help, 94 7.3, no tach, trans acting up

Ok, so I have tried a lot of things, new transmission solenoid, after having it checked at a local shop, new tach sensor, new brain box, (mounts in the firewall under the brake booster), I have not ripped apart the dash yet, they can be tricky to get back together, checked all fuses, I am considering putting the original solenoid back in, I have replaced it twice, the folks at Transtar replaced the first one, thinking maybe the first replacement was defective, it was the culprit.

I should mention the truck is totally new to me,I made the fellow a low ball offer and he took it, maybe I bit when I should have spit, so I have never seen the truck act just right, but it did seem to run the best with the original solenoid in it, then the trans acted right, just flashed the od light.

maybe I should mention more on that, truck ran fairly well when I got it, the trans od light was flashing, (Tach worked), needed state inspection, shop inspected it pulled codes recommended new trans solenoid, I bought one, a rebuilt one from transtar, put it in seemed to fix it, about ten days later truck wanted to start in a high gear, not first, feels like maybe third, I did not notice whether tach worked, contacted transtar, they agreed to give me a replacement solenoid, put that in, seemed to fix it for maybe one day, no tach, trans on what is maybe "safe mode". since then I have triple double check connection at trans solenoid, replaced tach sensor, replaced what I was told is the transmission computer, maybe, just maybe I am getting bum solenoids.

any thoughts ?????????

A bad vehicle speed sensor (VSS) can cause what you seem to be experiencing. The flashing OD light indicates trans is in limp mode, probably due to existing DTC's. Also, unless that "tach sensor", which is actually the Cam Position Sensor (CPS) is a Motorcraft sensor, you're gonna have issues. To give any info worth following though, it is imperative to know what those codes are. That comes first.

Shoulda bought a Cummins.
