Like a moron I ran my OBS out of fuel- need advice on bleeding out the air.

Like the title says, I ran it out of fuel because my fuel filter was plugged and I didn't get her shut down before it stalled. I've bled air out of IDIs plenty of times in the past, but I don't know if the procedure is in any way different on the 1994-97 PSD. Relevant facts: have primed the bowl with clean fuel and obviously changed the filter. The truck still has factory mechanical lift pump, and is pretty much bone stock. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

All you can do is crank.

Re: Like a moron I ran my OBS out of fuel- need advice on bleeding out the air.

Yeah that's what I was finding in my online searches. I'm getting smoke out of the exhaust but not really building any pressure at the fuel bowl. Tank is at least half full, bowl was primed. I guess I just have to keep cranking, but I wanted to run it by some people that know PSD a little more than I do in case I was missing a critical step. I like this truck and I'd hate to eff something up by being pissed and approaching it like a hammer approaches a nail. Thank you for answering.

If it doesnt start building pressure soon, it's possible you picked up some trash from the tank, and may need to clean it out/blow out the lines.
