Clutch and oil pan needs replaced. Pull motor and trans together? obs 7.3

I have a 1995 f-superduty with 7.3 powerstroke and zf5 trans. the clutch is fried and upon further inspection the oil pan is leaking badly and contaminating the clutch anyway so it looks like I need to pull the engine and trans or just pull the engine but should I drop the trans and lift the engone or pull it all together out the hood? what is the best practice if both need to come out. Keep in mind I'm working in a one stall garage with hand tools and jacks no air.

while i've never actually tried it doubtful that you can get both out together without lifting the cab i know its fairly tight just pulling the engine

Just pull the engine. No need to pull the trans to change a clutch if the engine is coming out. None of this sounds very fun with no lift or even a compressor. It's probably gonna suck ass bro.

How about this, pull the trans back, lift the the engine a few inches and pull the pan? Either way, change the rear main while you're there. I've seen a bunch of those leak.

To properly reseal the pan to the engine block the engine really needs to be upside down.

I don't know if I would go through all the hassles of trying to do it while it was still in the truck only to find out later that it didn't seal up properly.

Oh yeah, upside down for 24hours. Enough time for the grey sealer from hell to cure

Well, I guess I better rethink all those times I've done it then.

Didn't say that it can't be done but it was the recommended way to do it.

Of course. There's nothing wrong with following the manual, but it's hard to make money that way.

I know on my 93 IDI with a stick it was a real pain getting the engine out, think if I had to do it again I would slide the transmission back some then pull the engine.
