1995 7.3 Powerstroke Turbo - random no start
Last year I replaced the High Pressure Oil pump, now the truck is randomly deciding not to start. The first time it happened we were out to dinner, so the truck was in the lot for more then an hour. Cranked it several times, no start. Waited 15 minutes, starts up. But didn't have a problem again for 3 days. Stopped for a soda, come out & it won't start, even with ether. Began disassembly, wife picked up new fuel pump. Buddy stopped by, said put it together (before the new pump arrived) & it will start. Sure enough it started. Got home, tried it 3 times, started every time. 45 minutes later, crank continually, no start. Another guy said the fuel pump was too hot & needed to cool (didn't make sense for the problem 3 days ago, but okay) so I set a ziploc of ice on top of the fuel pump & waited 5 minutes, it re-started. Guy I know who owns a heavy truck maintenance company said that isn't true, the fuel pump is either bad or it's not. Anyone have any idea why I would get random no starts?
