Cruise control problem

I have a 1997 Ford F-350 Powerstroke 7.3. I can not figure out the problem with the cruise control. It used to work and then one day it just stopped. Checked all the wires and there’s power everywhere. All brake lights work and the horn works too. I’ve searched and searched and can’t figure out the problem. Any suggestions? Trying to fix it before we go on a 9 hour trip with no cruise control lol

Re: Cruise control problem

Is your brake warning light on the dash on?

Have you checked the vacuum switch? If not, unplug it and try that.

Have you checked the parking brake switch?

Is your third brake light working? If you changed to LED, you need to add a resistor.

And last, pull the steering wheel and check the 3 spring contacts.

I have been through all of this. Mine had a bad vacuum switch AND one of the contacts behind the wheel was loose. It would loose contact when I turned the steering wheel.

If you have access to a scanner hook that up then you can tell what's really going on
