Re: 7.3 engine... how much?

I see 7.3's for sale occasionally on craigslist for $1200 on up. Most have much higher mileage than yours. I have heard new motors run 8-12K$ so I am betting you would do well to list it for about half that amount.??

Re: 7.3 engine... how much?

$9,000?? Or $900?

I've recently went through searching for a new engine for mine. Bought one for $1,000 complete, got another priced at $1,600 complete--reman engine with around 6,000 miles, and I got a 97 in the shed with 150,000 miles I was thinking of using, till I decided not to tear the truck apart till I'm ready to start the buildup on it too.
I'd say anywhere from $1,000- $4,000 dollars depending on location/ shipping. Taking offers yet? The way I drive my stuff, you can never have too much stuff laying around.
Keep in mind that a new shortblock is from $3,500 to 9,800 depending on what you get. (DI, WOP )

Re: 7.3 engine... how much?

At the very least, call up your local rebuilders or Ford dealer and see what they want for a core charge. Couple of years ago, my local Ford dealer wanted $1500 for a core and wrecking yards in my area were (and still are) selling engines to rebuilders only. So, I bought a 100K engine less turbo for $1500 and had to go out of state to get it.

WOP short block is more like $10.500 plus shipping. Website info is dated.
