Battery terminals always corroding

so this has been an ongoing issue since ive had the truck. But about every month or two itll start cranking slower. Clean the terminals and good to go. Ive replaced countless clamps and this has been on 2 different sets of batteries. What causes this so bad? Anything i can do to fix it? I use a terminal grease that seems to help a little. This is more just annoying than anything. We have an old international 86 hydro thats pretty bad about corroding terminals as well but not quite this bad

Okay, interesting. Did you put a big alternator on the truck?

Re: Battery terminals always corroding

Alt could be boiling them, but I would think you would be low on liquid in there.
I would peel back the insulation on the cables. Likely to have corrosion in there.
Also, use a baking soda/water mixture to clean everything.

Ive tried several brands of terminal sealer and terminal grease. I've even used just regular grease as a neighbor recommended that.

Nope only use good batteries here. Interstates were in it befoee and theybare normally very good and John Deeres in it now, and they are thebest we have found. We've probably got 10 sets of jd batteries around currently and the only ones we have issues with are in my 97 and that 86 hydro and they do it no matter what battery

Re: Battery terminals always corroding

Well check the voltage at the battery while it's running. It's either over filled or over charging.

Re: Battery terminals always corroding

I have never had much luck with aftermarket battery terminals.

Perhaps it is just time for new cables.
