Parking Brake and ABS

Dumb question but what is causing my park brake light and my ABS light to be on in the truck?

The only thing I can think of is the ABS sensor in the rear.

The park brake light is what has got me thrown here

Edit: It hasn't effected braking or anything else on the truck.

Re: Parking Brake and ABS

That isn't (just) the "Park brake" light. It's primarily the brake FAILURE WARNING light. That it lights up with the parking brake is the least important of its uses. Much more importantly, it lights up when (1) there's a hydraulic failure (e.g. leak), there's a vacuum failure leading to no power boost, and (3) there's an ABS failure.

Your issue is most likely the third, but for good measure, you should check the hydraulics and confirm no leaks.

Does the speedometer work as expected? What about cruise control?

Re: Parking Brake and ABS

The only thing I have ever seen cause both lights to come on is it sensing low fluid. Wiggle the connector for the level sensor or pull it out and clean it. Usually you have to replace the bottle but I've gotten it to work sometimes by just cleaning the connection. Hope this helps.
It's NOT your abs or the rear speed sensor. Those can't trip both lights unless something else is wrong too.

Re: Parking Brake and ABS

The VSS/ABS sensor in the rear axle will cause both lights to come on if it is faulty or dirty. Try cleaning it first then if that doesn't fix it replace it and the lights will go out.

Re: Parking Brake and ABS

The sensor in the rear axle will cause the ABS light and ONLY the ABS light to come on. Mine was broken off and no brake light, check the level in the resivoir.
