Ford E Locker retrofit?

Ok who has installed the SD E Locker Differential into a sterling 10.25 rear end? Thinking it should fit and at the time replace the rear cover with an aluminum finned Ford one, and drill a hole for the E connection in it. To activate locking is just a 12 volt signal on a switched Relay? Just thinking of options for down the road and was thinking next time Iím at wreckers Iíll have a look to see if any are there.

Thank,

j

Re: Ford E Locker retrofit?

if i am not mistaken, the superduty E/locker is a 10.5 differential.

Thatís correct, however I was always led to believe the 10.5 will fit in a 10.25 casing.

Re: Ford E Locker retrofit?

So upon more research on Pirate 4x4, would appear itís doable for sure. At issue guys think initial power requirement is 12 volts to lock up, then after a certain period current reduces to 40 or 50%. Thatís still being discussed, thinking this has to do with electronic traction control and abs possibly. For OBS application thinking 12v would be fine. Will be adding this to the list of to does.
