Need new pcm

hey guys so my trucks a 97 7.3 auto and im pretty sure i need a new pcm, the overdrive pin isnt getting power and i checked and the button isnt shorted. I installed a ts 6 position chip on my truck and thats when the problem of the Overdrive staying off happened and it will go on once in a while but if i hit the brake pedal overdrive goes off again. So is anyone have a pcm for my truck i could buy. I cant find any at the junkyard. Im located in Vancouver bc canada.

Re: Need new pcm

Did you try removing the chip to see if it works without it. If it worked fine without it, then stopped once the chip was put it, its probably related to the chip then.

Re: Need new pcm

when i took the pcm out to put the chip in, i guess the previous owner had a chip in it before and took it out because it was already sanded down. However i decided to go over it again stupidly. So i think i did the trick on it haha

Re: Need new pcm

The brake light circuit should NOT downshift it. It will disengage the torque converter lock, however. Are you sure it's actually downshifting, and not just unlocking the TC?

Re: Need new pcm

it kicks it out of overdrive, so yes it will downshift it.

Good find..... glad it worked out for you. You might consider re-tinning the connections on the circuit board plug in socket then you’ll have a spare PCM, with the dough you saved. An electronics place could easily do this if you don’t have the gear. Also ensure you brake lights and 3 brake light are in good working order as well as trailer brake lights too, these can mess with TC unlocking or not locking up.

Cheers,
