97 F250 HD misfire under load

Hi I have a 97 f250 hd with 243k. It seems to misfire while driving. It runs pretty good around 1200 rpm pulling but past that it seems to drag a cylinder. I am getting almost 20mpg mixed driving. The truck is not using any oil besides the seal in the rear of head. It doesn't seem to smoke at all when misfiring. I tried the buzz test with my scanner but testing was inconclusive because it doesn't seem to misfire unless under load. How can I go about diagnosing this?

Re: 97 F250 HD misfire under load

lookup "superduty diagnosis on the cheap" you need a scanner/app that can watch/listen/record what is happening inside your 7.3 when driving.
I paid $50 for an Android 7" tablet, $15 for the app and $20 for the OBDII cable so I can do this also
Will make it much easier to find your "miss"
