Thumbs down German Shepherd puppy ate my truck!

1997 F250 4X4 7.3 Powerstroke Automatic transmission

Well, as the title states,
F-ing dog jumped up on my left front wheel and ate the main harness under the fuse box, the transmission harness, power steering lines, a/c lines, vacuum lines and partially ate the engine harness which was repairable. Not to mention bastard ate my cai!

I will try and make this short as possible.

Could not find main harness for a auto trans. Found one for a manual trans and installed it. There is a round plug that should be plugged into the trans harness but no matching plug from the fuse/relay box. It is a 8 pin plug with only 2 wires??

Now, truck spins over but won't crank. Glow plug solenoid now has a rapid clicking on the relay and the WTS and CEL lights are flashing with each click. I have used a soaked gas rag over the intake and it will start for a brief moment then go back to just spinning over.

Already replaced the IDM with a reman part. Had the ECM checked.

I am at wits end!

Anyone have an idea???

Re: German Shepherd puppy ate my truck!

This reminds me of a pure white German Shepherd I used to own which ate my wife's pantie hose when he was about half-grown. It took a vet opening him up to fish it out of his intestines. My vet bill was probably as big as your replacement costs. Those big dogs are expensive.

Hope you get your rig on the road again. I won't ask how the dog is doing. Wouldn't want you to incriminate yourself.

I love dogs, especially German Shepards, but if it did that to my truck that dog would be in the local shelter in a heartbeat. That sucks man.

Re: German Shepherd puppy ate my truck!

Did you get the harness from the same year of truck that yours is? There may be some small differences in them that would be causing problems.

Also on the manual wiring harness all you would have on it would be the 4x4 indicator (I believe) and reverse light.

I'll dig through my EVTM's and see if I can see just what the difference is.

Looking at the EVTM you really need to get a harness for a automatic. The transmission talks to the PCM and the PCM talks to the E4OD transmission and the harness that is for a manual truck will not let it do this.

Re: German Shepherd puppy ate my truck!

Thanks guys!
Yes, it was taken from a 4X4 truck of the same year just has a manual transmission.
Kinda figured it wouldn't work but it was only $100.00 for the harness so I gave it a shot. Trying to restore the old truck but it has literally become a giant sinkhole of a money pit. This all happened the night before it went to the paint shop.

If the dog wasn't of rich bloodline and $4000.00 he would have been buried already!

Guess I will look through the for sale forums.

Again, thanks folks!

Re: German Shepherd puppy ate my truck!

I'd file an insurance claim if you have full coverage and let them pay to fix it.

A insurance company will just total it.

^^^^ What he said. ^^^^

I was a field appraiser for a automotive insurance company. Before that a Master CR&R Tech for 20+ years. At a Ford dealer. Then got tired of the politics involved with corporate america. Now, I do my own thing lol.....

Looked on car-part.com. Scouring Craigslist using searchtempest.com Local kid here in south Texas is restoring two OBS trucks and buys everyone he sees. Have gotten lots of parts from him but all he had was the manual harness I bought at the time.

Thanks folks, I will keep on looking. :)
