Truck don't start with key

I'm having more issues with my truck, I can get in the truck put the key in the switch turn the key and all the lights will turn on then turn it to crank it and it does nothing. But if the switch on and someone jumps the solenoid it will crank over fast.

whats my issue?

Re: Truck don't start with key

Automatic or manual transmission?

Are you jumping the SOLENOID (which is ON the starter) or the RELAY (on the fender)?

Re: Truck don't start with key

it could be the neutral safety switch is bad, or the ignition actuator in the steering column could be broken.

Re: Truck don't start with key

I had this same problem on my '06 350 about 4 months ago. I turned the ignition to ON, disconnected the lead in front of the HVAC box under the hood and touched it to the positive lead of the passenger side battery. It started right up and I replaced the ignition switch and that solved the problem.

Re: Truck don't start with key

If its in the column it will be the ignition switch and they are not hard to change just a pain in the butt more then anything you can also put a test light on the relay and see if it gets the feed from the ignitoin switch. If not then either the park nuetral switch or the ignti9n switch on the column.

Re: Truck don't start with key

broken actuator in the top of the column is a common problem with these trucks, much nor often than the actual switch going bad.
