4x4 question

I know there has already been topics started on this, but my 1996 f350 4x4 is not engaging into four wheel drive, and it has automatic locking hubs. This past weekend I had a friend that was stuck call me to come pull him out, and I put it in 4 low and ended up getting stuck because the front wheels had no power, tried rolling back and forth and still not power in the front, I am thinking it's the auto hubs, but just wanted to make sure before I order a set of warn manual hubs.

Thanks,
Christian

Re: 4x4 question

If push button is the light flashing on the 4x4 switch? If so pull the motor and clean the contacts had to do that many a time in my bronco.

It's the lever and yes lights come on, 4x4 and when in 4 low the "low range" light comes on

Re: 4x4 question

It could also be the hubs. They are known for failing at the worst times. Or they fail and when you need them they don't work.

Re: 4x4 question

You have to watch the underside of the truck while it's being run in 4x4. Watch for the front driveshaft and axle shafts to turn.
