Engine not starting

Just rebuilt the engine. set the harmonic balancer to 11 o'clock. put new glow plug connectors. normally when you turn the ignition on and the glow plug rely makes the noise. well thats not happening. also the engine was cranking normally (like before i pulled the motor) then it sounded like it was about to start and now it doesn't sound too normal. Kinda like its out of battery but still cranks. My OBD reader sends a fault to both bank 1 and 2. I hooked up all the wiring exactly how i saw it on the old plugs. Don't know why its not starting. I plugged the block heater in so the glow plugs wouldn't need to much work to do. but that was for a hour or so. any suggestions? hopefully easter sunday will bring miracles!! lol

Re: Engine not starting

Just rebuilt the engine real quick eh, nice
Set the balancer to 11 o clock???? Please explain this
Do you get a WTS light?
Sounds like your batteries got weak when cranking, its not going to fire up if you cant get enough RPM from starter
Did you fill the fuel bowl with fuel and fill the oil rails with oil before attempting to start?
Why did you rebuild your engine? (what was wrong before)

Just something i heard with 11 oclock because its cylinder 1 is top dead center. Wts comes on and off. I let the fuel bowl prime and i made sure it filled. I put oil in the hpop resivor. Poured oil over all my rocker arms. I let the batteries charge all night. I even stuck a yellow top battery on with cables to help. Its just weird. The glow plug connectors to the valve covers were melted so i got new ones and spliced the wires and used a connecter on the wires. I made sure everything was the same. But my obd reader shows glow plug fault in bank 1 and 2.

Re: Engine not starting

knocking noise = pull valve cover
man good luck get ready for a battle, nothing is jumping out at me unless a GP threw itself out of a hole, or you had too much fluid in a combustion chamber?

Re: Engine not starting

1997 has mechanical lift pump. So letting it "prime" won't work.
Unless you swapped efuel.

Re: Engine not starting

the pulleys are moving really slow. Almost seems like the compression isnt getting released correctly. Going to check under the valve covers. Also its really hard to turn the motor with a ratchet. I but my jack bar over the ratchet and thats the only way to turn the motor. Before the rebuild i was able to turn the motor with just my 1/2" ratchet.
