Parts Store PCM

I'm getting a P0605 code along with some hard and quick shifting. Think the PCM is toast. Ebay has them from $300-$600 but the local parts store has them for $125. Is there something I'm missing here? Anyone have one they want to sell?

Re: Parts Store PCM

I got one at RockAuto for $115 about 5 years ago and it was just fine. If it is no good, return it. Cheers!

Re: Parts Store PCM

So turns out it isn't available at the parts store. Will any auto trans pcm from a 95-97 7.3 work?

Generally yes, but there are minor differences. Check your pms.

Re: Parts Store PCM

Here's some info on P0605: It doesn't mean its always the PCM.

Re: Parts Store PCM

Where is the PCM ground located? Is there a PCM power relay behind the kick panel? I'm familiar with the gas trucks but. It the diesels.

Re: Parts Store PCM

I don't think my problem is coming from a hot wire shorting out or it would most likely blow a fuse. I'm thinking bad ground, bad PCM, or a problem with the 6 Pos Chip. If I clear the code with my Snap On Brick then she's fine for a while. All off a sudden it won't come off idle and when it decides to move the cel light comes on, OD light flashes, and it goes into limp mode.
I already swapped out the PCM relay and I'm about to pull the chip. Can anyone tell me where the PCM ground is located?

Re: Parts Store PCM

Chip is something that would have been worth mentioning in post 1 (and NO, signatures don't count...). REMOVE the chip and see if the problem persists or the code still appears. If not, the chip is where you want to focus.

Re: Parts Store PCM

I just removed the chip and I'm about to go for a long drive to see if the cel light will come back on. I'll report back.
