another no-start, IDM mod?

the truck has been down for about 2 months, fuel system has been apart. i replaced the fuel pump in the valley, installed a sd turbo and intercooler, did a hpx line, shimmed the fpr, and did the idm mod. the truck is a 96. it is cranking at full speed but no white smoke. i cant hear the injectors firing. i did bleed the fuel system. i am wondering could i have messed up the idm? how can check if it is working? i am getting a code for "icp voltage not as expected" on the programmer. where can i get a scan tool?

It could be your IDM, but with all of that work done at once, it is hard to tell. Is your tach moving when you crank it? If so your CPS is good. Where are you located? Maybe someone near you has a scanner and can help you out.

If you have eccess to a lap top PC, AE software is less than $400.

Re: another no-start, IDM mod?

I had the exact same problem. Truck was apart for months had the fuel and HPO systems open. Did the IDM mod while it was apart and then it wouldn't start. I pulled the IDM out and smelled the connector. It smelled burnt so I opened it up and it was toast.

Although I have not determined the cause of the failure, I'm pretty sure it was not the mod. Pics are in my signature of the failure. I will try the mod again at some point, but I'm going to get a spare IDM first.

Re: another no-start, IDM mod?

ok so im an idiot. i took my idm down to a shop here in town and got it tested, he told me its no good. i pulled it back apart checked the connections, everything good. i looked at the package the resistors came in and something didnt look right, they are 75 ohm not 75k. the question is would i have hurt the idm with this resistor and should i put a 75k in?

Re: another no-start, IDM mod?

if it is shorted, the voltage will be low and the amperage high...simple electricity. so yes, it could cause that code because the pcm is looking for it to be in a different range than it is (and i'm guessing its lower) hence the no start

Re: another no-start, IDM mod?

But ICP voltage is not related to the IDM output.
