Turbo removal

Trying to remove turbo for EBPV delete. I assume I need to disconnect the turbo from the up-pipes at the first flange going away which has the four large bolts? If so, A: What is the trick to breaking those loose?, and B: What is the trick to getting to the bottom-left bolt which is hidden by the turbo itself?

Thanks!

Steve

Re: Turbo removal

It's quite an experience the first time. A short 15mm wrench and a prybar works well for the flange bolts.

Most people use a 1/4" drive 10mm swivel socket on the pedestal bolt. Be sure it's a Craftsman, Snap-On, MAC, etc. something with a replacement warranty because you WILL break at least one.

Re: Turbo removal

you should only be removing two band clamps, and the two bolts that hold the turbo to the pedistal.

Re: Turbo removal

The OBS turbos are different and harder to remove. You have to remove the pedistal to get it out.
