Switch to later Radiator setup?

So I've got anti-freeze leaking and it looks like its coming from the radiator core to tank at the top. I'm wanting to switch to the '96-'97 Radiator with Surge tank.

Wondering if anyone has done such a swap on their truck. I'm gonna be looking for some electric fans to go with the new stuff also. I noticed the Flex-a-lite Super Duty fans are about 3" small for the OBS radiator.

Re: Switch to later Radiator setup?

I have heard that people changed radiator's before but I don't know any specifics or if there are issues to watch out for.

Electric fans have been used a little on PSD's but they do not work out very good for towing. They will not pull enough air while driving down the road and they actually restrict airflow as compared to having no fan at all when you are at speeds of 50 mph or more.

The stock clutch fan doesn't pull much (if any) power when it is disengaged, which is most of your driving time.
