MANIFOLD LEAK

What is the best way to remove the bolts without breaking them and replace the gasket? Also, how many bolts are there on the driver side so I can get my parts ordered?

Re: MANIFOLD LEAK

You might have have to use a little heat to . i have changed a couple where only heating the bolts up with a torch would work. good luck

Re: MANIFOLD LEAK

I just got my engine out of the truck tonight, throughout the day I soaked the manifold bolts as best as I could with PB Blaster while it was in the truck. Once I had it out I quickly went around and cracked all but three of them loose, I resoaked the others and will try it again tomorrow with a little heat.

Heres another question for you guys. How reliable are the gaskets, would I be better off taking the manifolds to a friend to have them machined and just bolt em back on with new bolts instead of gasketing?

Re: MANIFOLD LEAK

have them machine and use aftermarket gaskets. the IH ones are just a thin piece of steel. the aftermarket ones have a little crush to them to take up for wear on the head

Re: MANIFOLD LEAK

from what I read I thought that they came from the factory without a gasket?

Re: MANIFOLD LEAK

I started pulling it apart last night, got all but one out. I soaked it some more and will try again today. I was going to put a IH gasket on with all new bolts. Will that not hold up or should I be ok?

Re: MANIFOLD LEAK

my question is if they are just metal to metal from the factory, if I resurface the manifolds do I need to use a gasket, or can I put them back on without the gasket
