Gloat of a lifetime

I just bought and picked up a 97 F250 Supercab XLT Lariat 4x4 PSD / E4OD
with minimal rust (michigan) just rear wheel wells. Solid doors/cab/front clip.
200K miles, runs great.

Are you ready?

$1500.

Guy thought it had a bad trans. No drive in any gear. Had several people come look at it. I went to look at it. Looked good. Ran good. Bought it.

Winched onto trailer. Drove back to work, about 20 miles away.

Got in, started it up. Gave a big shove on the t-case lever *** TO SHOVE IT OUT OF NEUTRAL *** and drove it off the trailer.

I had a hunch the t-case might be in neutral, and am happy that I was right. Best I can tell, it needs a set of tires, a spring hanger, one battery, and a couple patch panels. That's it. It looks like brand new under the hood. Even has a new HPOP.

I'm fairly sure that was a gift from heaven there.... :)

edit: Oh yeah - alcoa's too....

Re: Gloat of a lifetime

haha....love the "T-CASE THAT WAS IN NEUTRAL".....if that guy wasnt smart enough to figure out that his transfercase was in neutral then he doesnt deserve to even drive a truck. Good for you!

The guy didn't impress me as too sharp. I figgered one of his buddies was playing a prank on him...

Re: Gloat of a lifetime

Sounds like my father-in-law - he bought a 1964 International pickup with a "blown engine" - installed a set of points in the guys driveway and drove it for 5+ years.

Yours is better, though - you didn't even have to invest a couple bucks in a set of points.

Amazing, great find.
