Unhappy Bad IDM on a '95 7.3

My '95 E350 7.3 has been with me since new. Except a crank sensor at 20,000K, and a couple idler pulleys it has never let me down. She had a new IDM at 99,000mi by the dealer before the warranty was up as a favor. Now at 225,000K the whole left side of the mtr stopped fireing. I was lucky enough to borrow a test IDM from a Ford tech. Ran like a top after pluging in the test IDM.
I priced a new one wholesale for $802. I don't think I want to gamble on used.
I am one of those unemployed statistics and on a shoestring.

Whats the cheapest way to buy an IDM ??

I don't have a good feeling about elec componets from ebay. Are there any aftermarket products out there?

FORD PowerStroke Diesel 7.3L F-250 INJECTOR DRIVER MODULE IDM *EXCHANGE

or cheaper: Northern Auto Parts: - Reman Ford 7.3L Power Stroke Injector Driver (IDM)

or Beans or Swamps for modded.

Not an aftermarket unit available. Only new from Ford, remanufactured by aftermarket, or used. Beans and Swamps (as well as others) takes a used unit, tests it, and ups the voltage output.

Re: Bad IDM on a '95 7.3

Oh, any 7.3 IDM from 94 to 03 up will work, I'm running a used 2001. The later models have a higher voltage output--yours (and my original) was 100 volt, the middle years went to 110 volt, then up to 120 volts. (The IDM mod boost it further, up to 140 volts).

If you're on a budget, I'd buy used, there's even one in the classifieds on this forum.
