What is the difference in the Dually vs the Single rear end?

Re: Lets talk rear ends..

OBS SRW: Sterling 10.25 - These came in 3.55 (most popular) and 4.10
SD SRW: Sterling 10.5 - These came is 3.73 (most popular) and 4.10

Dually will use the Dana 80, unless it's a F550. And it uses the Dana 130 I believe.

F350 had 3.73, 4.10 or 4.30
F450 COULD have 4.10, but generally was 4.30

F550 generally had 4.30, but there are a few 4.56's running around.

Porch Monkey. It's cool, I'm taking it back.

Dirk,

The OBS dually rear is a Dana 80? I thought it was a 10.25 with longer studs or something....hmmmmm

That is a GREAT question...

My friend's 1997 had a dana 80. Found this out the hard way when a bearing failed. Autozone and Napa kept giving him sterling parts that didn't work. He bought the truck new, never had any other rear axle work done. I just spoke with JJ.. and his 1995 f350 DRW may have a 10.25, he will check.

Thats no sh!t looks like it should be a fockin two speed rearend.

I worked for a napa for several years, on superduties you could always ask if it had duals or single rear wheel to figure it out, but the obs trucks were hit and miss, some of the later trucks were dana 80's but some of the early ones were 10.25

couple trucks one fast one not

My 450 sd has a 110 with 4.88. 550 is the same other than the axel tube is square tube instead of pipe.
