Probably cheaper to either put a junkyard trans in, or convert to an auto.

What exactly happened?

Re: zf-5 Rebuild kits

Reverse gave out while driving... started grinding when the truck wasnt under load...Driving on a level hill and take off the gas for a few seconds and it would grind like a grinder.
Evenchually It ended up that you could put the shifter in the spot with the truck idling with no clutch and nothing would happen.

Re: zf-5 Rebuild kits

If you don't get the clutch all the way in when you are trying to shift in reverse, even just a little grinding, over time will cause that gear to go. Happens quite a bit. Just rebuilt one this past winter cause the grinding was so loud in neutral you couldn't even hear the engine running.
