Factory hitch rating

Anyone know what the factory hitch is rated for on a 97 CCSB. Is it a class 3 or 4? It has 3 mounting bolts on each side.

Re: Factory hitch rating

I'm not sure they came from the factory with a receiver hitch. Pretty sure it would be aftermarket or a dealer option. Should have a tag on it stating the ratings.

Re: Factory hitch rating

I have found that in 97 no receiver hitch was available from the factory. For sure. I'd treat it as a class three. Maybe time to upgrade to a four or five. Best to be safe.

Re: Factory hitch rating

Well mine says class 5 and it has three mounting bolts on each side. I have had 12-13k on it no problems so far only a weee bit overloaded. No ratings written in the space provided though.

Re: Factory hitch rating

If I change mine out I'll go with a Reunel bumper with an integrated receiver. I'm not receiving e-mails for subscribed threads.

Re: Factory hitch rating

Curtis makes a real nice class 5 reciever hitch that's not too much money. I have one, it's pretty beefy.

Just picked up a Curt class 5 hitch and it only has 2 mounting bolts on each side. My old hitch also mounted farther up on the frame with 3 bolts. WTF?
