Dana 60 shafts
Been chasing down a thumping noise coming from the front end ever since swapping in the D60 (5 years ago). I swapped in a '94 D60. I checked ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm, drag link, etc, etc.
Well...I think I found the problem, the axle shafts of the D60 are bouncing inside the tube. There are not not making contact with the tubes. Seems like splines inside the hub (Warn Premiums) are alittle sloppy. When I go over a bump, the shafts bounce and transmit the annoying thump.
When I bought the axle, I replaced everything except for the gears with new parts. Yes, I bought new Dana axles and U-joints because the old seal was leaking and cut a groove on the axle shaft. The parts ordered where bought according to BOM on the axle tube.
Is there a remedy for this or am I missing a part? I checked out Tom S Dana 60 parts illustrations and looks like I have everything.
