urgent turbo boot help

I just pulled the boot off the turbo that is on the front side, connects to a metal tube that connects to the stock air filter box. part number is 1820102c2, that is on the tube, anyways what does a guy use as a replacement. Ford said 145 bucks, but that can't be right, hell the boots about 6 to 8 inches long. Please help

It is an orange boot, stock

145 is the upgrade KIT it gives you everything to convert to the black hose .

My understanding from ford was the orange hose was discontinued !

Re: urgent turbo boot help

I caught a bunch of $hit from people last time I answered this question, but here I go again. I recently had the same problem with my truck Fords $145 "kit" comes with alot of BS I didn't feel was necesary. Intakehoses.com has a relacement hose for around $55 I belive. That's how I fixed my truck, right, wrong or otherwise.

Re: urgent turbo boot help

The update kit is about $87 at Powerstrokeshop.com (F7TZ9C681AA). I don't mind paying a bit more for the factory kit (I've done it on both my trucks, 1994 and 1997) as it is nice and stout (especially when compared to the wimpy original orange boot that is no longer available). Cheers!

Re: urgent turbo boot help

Only reason I throw the KIT up is I have done a whole slew of them yes the orange one can be had but how do it stack up with O.E . Air side is not where you need to cut corners.

Re: urgent turbo boot help

Just thought I would throw this out there, just to clear up any confusion. I know that the orange boot is junk, obviously thats why they don't make it anymore. The hose that I put on my truck is not the stock replacement boot. The stock piece in my best guess is made of some type of rubber, which over time looks like it softens and fails. The hose that I bought from Intakehoses.com appears to be made of silicone, it's similar looking to intercooler boots. Obviously silicone is better suited to be under the hood of a truck. So going the way I did, I replaced the failed part with a better replacement. Buying the OEM "update kit" you are replacing alot of other parts that are still in working order. That's all I'm tying to say I'm not promoting the place I got my hose and I'm not bashing the Ford kit. Just throwing out another cheaper option.
