MAP sensor ?

My trucks cuts out when it get up around 2800 rpm in forth and fifth gear. I have been thinking it was a fuel delivery issue which I still think it is. But lately I 've been watchin my boost gauge and have noticed that it doesnt seem to matter where my rpm's are, when my gauge hits 14lbs of boost the truck cuts out and the needle drops and the truck takes off agian. If I leave it on the floor it will just keep doing this, lurching down the hiway. After thinking my problem was the MAP sensor I wrapped my truck up in third gear to about 3200rpm and got my boost up to 14lbs and it did it again. Anyone ever heard of this ? Is it even possible for the MAP sensor to cause this problem ? Thanks

Re: MAP sensor ?

Unplug the map sensor so the computer runs in the default mode for MAP input. If it doesn't cut out at 14 psi then the MAP is bad.

Re: MAP sensor ?

Well I just came in from trying that and thats what the problem was. The MAP sensor must be bad. Thanks for telling me to unhook it and drive it like that. It just goes to show you what a benefit it is having boost, and egt gauges. I would have never figured it out if I did'nt have my gauges. Well that and just the fact that I'm a frikin awesome diagnoser of problems.
