Rough Idle - No Power: PLEASE advise

First - sorry but I'm long winded! I've tried to be thorough to help us all.

This just happened today, after driving the truck about 12 miles. Truck seemed to be running fine, until I pulled off from a stop sign and I seemingly lost a bank and had very little power. I didn't notice a CEL. Luckily, only had less than a half mile to go and made it.

Truck specs:
95 250 auto just rolled 140K - IDM MOD, HPX and DIY Intake are the only mods.

Symptoms I've noticed in the last couple of weeks:

1- Cold starts (75-90* ambient) are fine, but I normally wait for the WTS to go out.

2- After the initial cranking and running to temp, I don't always wait for the WTS to go out... more times than not, she'll not crank. I'll have to wait for the WTS to go out and she cranks properly.

3- Slight (very) miss occasional and it's done so in gear or park. One day while waiting in a bank drive-thru line, I raised the RPM to around 15-1600 and could feel a definite miss. Not done that since... I've tried to replicate it.

4- Today's incident where it suddenly ran extremely rough and wouldn't get out of it's own way!

5- After reaching my destination (about 3/10's mile), I did sniff the oil cap and couldn't really tell if what I smelt was from the wires or normal. At first I thought maybe, but am uncertain at this point.

6- The truck did crank again after shutting her down. Did notice however, the GPR clicked pretty daurn loud. Hood was up, so that may be why, no? It only clicked once, all three times I started her up again.

Diagnostics:??????
1- Swap out the IDM with a stock spare

2- Check the UVCH's with a meter

3- Check the ICP for chaffed wires / signs of oil

4- Scan for codes, buzz test, CCT and check for pressures and percentages of the ICP and IPR. (Here, I'm not sure what to expect - specifics here would be very much appreciated.)

5- Will first see if the truck will fire off and idle as it should... not expecting miracles though.

A friend is meeting me at the truck in the AM, with his scanner... which is an OBDII. He swears he's scanned this particular truck before with his scanner. We'll see tomorrow, if he's remembering correctly!

Questions:
1- When sniffing the oil cap, how noticeable would the burnt smell be? Obvious or only a hint?

2- What values should I see on the UVCH plugs?

3- What values should I see when checking the ICP and IPR?

4- Lastly, based on the symptoms above, is my thinking of what to troubleshoot even remotely close?

#########

Any and all advice or criticism, I'll be extremely grateful for... so Thank YOU in advance!

PS - I've been threatening myself with picking up a CPS for the glove box... that'll happen tomorrow by gosh!!!!

I think you're on the right track... What kind of scanner does your friend have?

Jeret, not really sure what brand it is. It's a high dollar unit, that's about all I recall him saying in the past.

Appreciate the encouragement, buddy.

Dug around the net long enough and got all the specs we should see... fingers crossed!

Re: Rough Idle - No Power: PLEASE advise

I've got good news and not so good.

I went over early enough before my buddy got there, dying to test my IDM theory.

"Disconnected batts" and swapped the modded unit for a stocker.

Fired her off and she purrrrrrred like a kitten! < the good

Any code that were stored, cleared when I did so! < the bad

Ran her about 40 miles - knock on wood - all seems well!

Re: Rough Idle - No Power: PLEASE advise

Finally caught up with my buddy today, to see if his scanner would indeed work. It does. It's a Genisys, OTC.

Only code was a P0603. Ran a buzz and CCT test and they passed.

ICP was 580+/-
IPR was at 13%
RPM's fluctuate between 630 - 680
