Speed Limiter?

Latest DIesel Power (Nov 2007), Page 118, middle column.

I didn't think the OBS had a speed limiter. Rev limiter, yes, but I have never heard of a speed limiter. I specifically asked Cale about this when he burned my chip: I wanted a 'mom' tune for when she wanted to borrow it. Instead I got high idle.
Or is DP smoking something really strong?

Re: Speed Limiter?

It is there and Jody does not need a box to fix it. Test on my truck two weeks ago.

Re: Speed Limiter?

Seems to be right around the yellow on the tach. 3400--3700? Stock my tach needle will flutter at about that point before a shift.

Re: Speed Limiter?

I think the limiter only applies in 4x4. My 96 has been gps'd at over 140 in 2wd. supposedly the 4x4 limiter is 112 or 114 i cant remember which.

Well if that's the case, why is there even a need for a box? Just wire around 4 hi so that 4 lo still works.

Re: Speed Limiter?

ya its way too fast for that truck. It was frequently in the 120 range though.
